Elder Bruce Sweney offers some words of encouragement today, April 3, 2020.
Tuesday morning, 6 a.m. I’m on the couch drinking my first cup of coffee watching the sunrise. The sky above the horizon is a beautiful red, orange, pink color combination. Friday morning, same place, same time, first cup of coffee. Today the sky is gray, overcast, and it’s raining. It reminds me of how little control I (we) have over things. It also reminds me of who is in control.
That Tuesday morning sunrise led me to remember Genesis 1:1. “In the beginning God created…” God was in control then, He’s in control now, and He will be in control forever. Not me, not you or anyone else. As believers, as His children, it’s in Him we can have peace in the midst of this coronavirus storm.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to “Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” 1 Peter 5:7 says, “… casting ALL your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.” The word care in this context means: distractions, anxieties, burdens, and worries. It’s a good time for us to “let go and let God.” We can’t handle this storm, but He can. Have a blessed day. Love you all.
