On Sunday, January 28 we begin a study through Daniel 1-6. We’ll learn a little history of how Daniel came to be in Babylon, his rise in influence, and how he steadfastly remained God’s man in the presence of kings. We would love to have you in our worship services at 10:30 on Sunday mornings.
January 28, 2018: “Jerusalem Has Fallen” – The first sermon in this series gives us a brief history of events leading to Judah’s defeat, who Daniel was, and what his unique position meant to him as he contended for his faith in God.
February 4, 2018: “A Three-Year Plan and Daniel’s Resolve” – Daniel and three other young men from Judah are chosen to serve in the king’s court. Learn about their training, and how Daniel was resolved long before his captivity to uphold his faith and values.
February 11, 2018: “A King’s Dream” – King Nebuchadnezzar had a disturbing dream. When none of the magicians, astrologers, or mystics could describe and interpret the king’s dream, Daniel sought God’s help in doing so. Find out more about the king’s dream and what it meant.
February 18, 2018: “Bow or Burn” – After King Nebuchadnezzar has his 90-ft statue of gold built, he commands that everyone in Babylon fall to their knees and worship the image when they hear the sound of many instruments. When word gets back to him that three Jewish men — Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego — refuse to bow, he gives them an ultimatum: Bow or burn. How does your faith stand up under pressure?
February 25, 2018: “The Final Step to Surrender” – Daniel is called to interpret another of King Nebuchadnezzar’s disturbing dreams. This time, God has a more dramatic path for the king to follow. What would it take to get you to that final step in surrendering your life to God? Find out about Nebuchadnezzar’s journey to surrender.
March 4, 2018: “The Handwriting on the Wall” – Proud King Belshazzar hosted a dinner party, and brought in the sacred temple cups from Jerusalem. After he and his guests drank from the cups and praised their own gods, a mysterious hand wrote powerful words on the wall of the palace. Daniel was called to interpret the writing.
March 11, 2018: “Taking a Stand on His Knees” – King Darius appointed Daniel and two others to be Administrators over the kingdom. In turn, the three administrators oversaw 120 provincial governors. When the rulers of the land discovered King Darius planned to make Daniel the single person to oversee them all, they became jealous and plotted a way to have Daniel killed. A nefarious plan, a sad and reluctant king, a lions’ den, and God on Daniel’s side made for an interesting outcome.
March 18, 2018: “The Fruit of Perseverance” – Daniel remained faithful to God for 70 years in an ungodly nation while serving ungodly kings. His witness and life bore much fruit. He continually contended for the faith, and made a difference in the lives of kings and those around him.
